. . Stephen Liston
can teach you how to play the guitar or train you to develop further the skill
and talent you already have.
. . Learn guitar the
right way and have fun along the way. Get the right "tools" to
fully develop your personal musical experience. Unleash your creativity
with superb practice routines.
. . We will start with very doable steps
toward your goals and soon you'll be playing with a truly professional
flair.
. . You will discover the joy of music is in
the journey as well as in the destination. When you experience the
smallest improvements it will propel you to keep going effortlessly.
. . There is no tedium in my lesson sessions.
Rather, I teach techniques for both practice and playing that will last a
lifetime. I even encourage singing for those inclined. Although I am not a
singing or voice coach, I do encourage such for those interested.
. . You always play the guitar during each of
your learning lessons with me. We do not sit around and talk about playing
. . As a youth I studied classical &
flamenco guitar in Andalusia, Spain. In New York my instructor was jazz
guitarist Sal Salvador, a luminary of the Stan Kenton Orchestra. I then
studied guitar at Berkley College, Boston MA
. . I have been a professional musician &
instructor since 1980. Now, as a 13 year resident of the Greater Valley of
the Sun area,. I currently perform as a soloist, and with duets and trios
.
. . I teach adults and youth, beginners,
intermediates and advancing students. Instruction is in both acoustic
and/or electric guitar. You can enjoy learning in many or one of various
styles; i.e.. jazz, folk, rock, blues, and classical.. And learn
strumming, single string picking and finger picking as desired. You can
even expand your songwriting or improvisational skills. I also teach
arranging.
. . There is never an obligation when you
contact me. We will review your interests in learning or improving
your level of guitar playing. This orientation visit is the first step and
there is no charge for that.
. . Yours most sincerely,
. . Stephen
Liston
